...the Projet Ensemble, born from a collective action on the territory of the South-West and Verdun in Montreal, aims to break the isolation of seniors by creating mutual aid networks. It is run by two workers and a manager, all three of whom are employees of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal (CCSMTL), in conjunction with volunteer seniors and community partners. The Ensemble Project promotes intersectoral collaboration by focusing on the co-construction of activities with, by and for seniors. These activities can take the form of solidarity walks, art therapy workshops, virtual community meetings, or the creation of places and works of commemoration for the victims of the COVID-19.
Finally, if the Projet Ensemble follows multiple local initiatives to break the isolation of seniors, it is nonetheless an innovative project. It is distinguished by the involvement of network professionals, who do not hesitate to go beyond institutional logic to respond to an urgent social need, to mobilize several actors and to articulate several levels of intervention: individual, group and community. In addition, the use of technological tools for therapeutic or preventive purposes for seniors who present a "borderline profile" for institutionalization in CHSLDs appears to be a promising avenue of intervention.
